Two persons lost their lives, while 17 other passengers sustained injuries after a bus crashed at Kwaita village on Abuja-Lokoja road.
A witness said the accident happened at about 2: 02p.m. Tuesday, when an 18- seater Toyota Hiace bus with registration number KTG 741 YG, coming from Lokoja end crashed into a heap of sand by the road side.
He said the driver lost control and the bus summersaulted and landed into a ditch, which left two passengers dead on the spot.
He said officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) later arrived the scene and evacuated the injured victims and the two corpses to Kwali General Hospital.
Our reporter learnt that the heap of sand was washed to the highway after heavy rainfall on Sunday.
When contacted, the Yangoji Unit Commander of the FRSC, Assistant Corps Commander, Joseph Godwin Samgbaza, confirmed the accident.
He said 20 people were involved in the accident, which he attributed to over speeding, loss of control and fatigue, while adding that the two corpses have been deposited at Kwali General Hospital.
Zamgbaza added that four persons were also injured in another accident which occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Kamadi village, on the same road, after a pickup van crashed.
He said the accident happened at about 3:30p.m. after a Toyota Hilux with registration number CT 234 allegedly on high speed lost control and crashed into a ditch.
