The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Yobe State said it arrested 141 suspects of drug trafficking from July, 2022, to June, 2023, across the 17 LGAs of the state.
The agency also said that a total number of 27 convictions were secured, with 75 pending cases at various stages of trial.

The state’s Commander of NDLEA, Mr Abdulazeez Ogungboye, who disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Damaturu for the commemoration of the global campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking, explained that no fewer than 304.5kg of Indian hemp and 125.5kg of psychotropic substances such as tramadol, codeine-based cough syrup and diazepam injections were seized across the state in the last year.
He, therefore, called on the state government to establish a drug treatment and rehabilitation centre for drug addicts.
