The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Offa LGA of Kwara State has rejected an attempt by Hon Saheed Popoola to rejoin the party.
Popoola, an ally of a former Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had dumped the APC for SDP in the build up to the 2023 general elections to contest a House of Representatives seat.
The decision to reject him was reached during APC stakeholders’ meeting in Ojomu Central B where Popoola hails from.
In a communique issued after the meeting and signed by the Ward Chairman, Habeeb Owolabi, and 51 others, the stakeholders said Popoola could not defect from the SDP through the backdoor.

They described a letter addressed to the ward by Popoola as a display of “his usual arrogance”.
The communiqué reads in part, “He has not followed due process and so he is not welcomed. He should go back on radio and replenish the party’s image and that of the governor which he attacked before the election.”
The former state lawmaker alongside other aggrieved leaders of APC in the state fell out with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and joined the SDP.
