As modern societies face several challenges posing threat to families across the world, speakers at the sixth family conference have advocated for the need for marriages to have a stronger bond to stay united.
The conference which was organized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints yesterday in Abuja had the theme ‘Strengthening families.’
Speaking at the event, the Managing director of Coscharis Mobility Ltd, Christian Chigbundu, said there is a severe threat to the institution of marriage as from every ten marriages, one or two crash after two years,adding that the situation know no religion or colour reason participant were invited from different background.
Chigbungu noted that the family being the fundamental instrument of the society, would be strong if there is a solid marriage relationship.

“The record shows that most individuals who engage in social vices come from broken unstable marriages. The state of marriages shape families. Thus, this initiative has made significant efforts to strengthen families and marriages. We need to know that a strong family will create a strong community; a strong community will create a strong state. A strong state will create a strong country and a strong country will create a strong world.”
He further urged couples to express appreciation and communication in their union as many marriages are cracking due to their absence.
“You need to show it, don’t hide it. Communication gap has created a lot of issues in our marriages, couples now marry their phones and television.”
On her part, the President of Family Watch International, Sharon Slater, stated that there is a covert agenda to destroy marriages in the world through the introduction of distorted human rights for children and sexual education in schools.
Slated explained that promoters of these ideas espouse human wrongs that undermine the family.
“There are the autonomous children rights that are being promoted and are being fictitious which are adult rights, like privacy and confidentiality from their parents, sexual expression and gender identity. these are all being promoted in the UN.”
While commending Nigerian for standing up for families at the UN, she said the use of comprehensive sexuality education is schools, also pose threat to the family
She advised parents to show love to their children and spend quality time with them to checkmate the new encroachment into family values.
