Kano gov’ship tribunal begins hearing Friday

The Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting at Miller road has fixed Friday, June 23, for commencement of witness hearing.

This followed the conclusion of pre-trial after documents had been admitted.

Speaking shortly after the tribunal session, former Kano State Attorney General and one of the lawyers representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), Musa Abdullahi Lawan, said, “After we present our witnesses, the first, second and third respondents will also present their own witnesses.”

He disclosed that the APC was set for the case with over 300 witnesses to be presented before the court.

He said, “In our petition, we have over 300 witnesses and once we start presenting them, we will determine how many will be needed or decide to call all of them.”

The tribunal had in the last sitting granted leave for the Kano APC to access and inspect BVAS machines used by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the March 18, 2023 elections in the state.

A three-panel of justices granted the leave for the Petitioner to produce and inspect the BVAS machines used in Bebeji, Gezawa, Tudun Wada, Garko, Ungogo, Ajingi, Bunkure, Warawa and Karaye LGAs.
