The immediate-past Minister of Interior; Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, has been urged to keep up his ‘outstanding personality’ as prominent Islamic clerics, scholars and leaders in South West eulogised his charismatic attributes.
Daily Trust reports that the clerics and leaders expressed gratitude to the former governor of Osun State for being a good ambassador of Islam and a quintessential politician during a civic reception held in his honour and organised by Concerned Muslim Scholars and Clerics in South Western Nigeria.
The event held on Sunday in Oyo town, Oyo State was graced with the presence of clerics and leaders among which were the Acting Chief Imam of Oyo, Sheikh Abdullateef Abdulazeez, former SSG, Osun State, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti, Federal Commissioner representing Osun in National Population Commission (NPC), Senator Mudashiru Husain and former APC chairman in Osun, Elder Lowo Adebiyi among others.
One of the speakers, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni who is the Chairman, Oyo State Muslim Community, said Muslims in the region were proud of the achievements of the former minister, saying that “God used Aregbesola as a pioneer of support for the growth of Islam throughout the country.
“We are here to celebrate a very dogged and dutiful Muslim. He is one of us who has represented Islam very well in the positions he has occupied.”
Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the Ameer; Jamaat Taawunil Muslimeen, and the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta saluted the religiosity of Aregbesola as well as his identification with Islam.
In his response, Ogbeni Aregbesola expressed his appreciation to the entire Oyo Muslim community for the honour while attributing the success of his political journey and the achievements celebrated by all and sundry to the impact of President Bola Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari.
