Owners of gas stations say the price is expected to further drop in the coming weeks.

According to a marketer, Mr Abdulateef Onafuye, the situation has not translated to increase in sales.

“The price has sharply gone down and we expect it to continue in the weeks ahead. The reason is partly due to the drop in the price of diesel which now sells a little above N600.

“Although the few users who have come for refill have increased their quantity, it has not translated to high sales because of the issue of the fuel subsidy removal,” he said.

On his part, Tobi Olamilakan, told our correspondent, “The situation has not really translated to a ‘mad rush’ for the commodity.

“Some customers said they prefer to wait till the prices drop further before they come for refill,” he said.

A housewife, Hajia Lateefat Abdullahi, said although she increased her refill from 2kg to about 7kg for N5,000, she was still making adjustments to her budget because of the new fuel regime.
