Blind association donates braille to Bauchi special school

The Nigeria Association of the Blind has donated approved curriculum braille textbooks to the Bauchi Special School to contribute towards the development of education among the visually impaired in the state.

Speaking during the handover of the books in the school, the National President of the association, Dr Adamu Ishaku, said that the association, with support of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), produced the books using approved curriculum, including subjects like mathematics; English, chemistry, physics, literature and government.

Ishaku explained that the braille books would ease the learning process among the visually impaired, adding that the gesture was a pilot exercise being implemented across the country.

He said, “The textbooks were produced to develop the blind students in education.

Responding, the Vice Principal (Academic) of the school, Malam Mustapha Salisu, thanked the association for the gesture and pledged to make judicious use of the textbooks for the students.
