Joint security operation flags off in Benue

The Joint Security Operations in Benue State on Tuesday flagged off a special exercise to rid the state of trouble makers.

The special squad consists the Army, Airforce, State Security Service (SSS), Civil Defence and the police.

State Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama, who addressed the special squad in Makurdi before they went around flash point areas on a show of force exercise, warned that there were would be no hiding place for criminals in the state.

Makama said: "we are synergising and working together. It is a joint security operation and everybody here has a part to play. We have security issues to deal with as well as the local government elections coming up on Saturday.

"We are ready for the election so all law abiding citizens should maintain order. Political thugs are hereby warned that any violence would be met with equal force."
