Use Proceeds Of Fuel Subsidy To Boost Health, Power Sectors, Group tells Tinubu

The West Africa Youth Council (WAYC) has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to use the proceed of the fuel subsidy to boost health care delivery and the power sector of the country.

Oluwaseun Williams, the President of the Council, who gave the advice, on Tuesday, in Akure, Ondo capital, said investment in both health and power sectors would end medical tourism and also enable the growth of small-scale businesses.

Mr Williams, who was represented by Odunayo Collins, a member of WAYC, at an award to honour the MD/CEO of Macro Umbrella International Limited, Mr Gbenga Abolarin, revealed removal of the subsidy without any palliative to cushion the effect would further impoverish the people.

“Many Nigerian youths would be inspired by Mr Abolarin if there were adequate power supply in the country and it’s more reason why we are urging President Bola Tinubu to invest the fuel subsidy proceed on improving the power sector and boost health care delivery,” he urged.

Mr Williams, who decried the suffering that Nigerians are currently passing through as a result of the removal of oil subsidies, said that the pains being felt should be seen in improved health care and adequate power supply in the country.

He, however, stressed that Mr Abolarin was named an Ambassador of the Council because of his contribution to the advancement of the health sector and quality healthcare delivery in Nigeria and West Africa.

According to him, Abolarin has carried out his duties with greater efficiency, proficiency and dedication.

“Abolarin has recorded continuous excellence in quality health care delivery. He is also a source of great inspiration to millions of West African Youth,” Mr Williams added.

Remarking, Abolarin thanked the body for the honour and pledged to provide support to youths in the West Africa region adding that it was a challenge for him to play a more critical role in the society.
