PCC calls for review of Federal Character Commission Act

The Public Complaints Commission (PCC) has called for a review of the Federal Character Commission Act to end  lopsided employment in federal agencies.

The Chief Commissioner of PCC, Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf, made the call in Abuja at a public hearing on complaints of noncompliance to appointments into the federal civil service.

He said the Principle of Federal Character had been subjected to persistent abuse.

 “The commission wants to ensure MDAs promote good governance while curbing maladministration and other forms of administrative injustice.

“In furtherance to this, the commission wants to entrench accountability and transparency in the conduct of government business,” he said.

Executive Chairman, Federal Character Commission, Muheeba Dankaka, said the commission had begun to sue government agencies who violated provisions.

She said the commission often requests the nominal role of government agencies at the end of each year to know if they meet up with the requirements of the law.
