Hoodlums ‘kill six’ in Rivers Community

Suspected hoodlums on Monday night killed six persons, two of whom were beheaded, including, in Rundele community, Emohua Local Government area of Rivers State.

Community sources told our reporter that the hoodlums beheaded two members of a local vigilante group in the community, Rundele Security and Peace Advisory Council (RUSPAC), simply identified as Endurance and Aboy, and killed his (Aboy’s) biological brother, Onyema.

The hoodlums, the source revealed, also killed a member of Emohua Local Vigilante Security Services (EMOVIS) who hailed from Emohua Community.

A resident, who pleaded anonymity, told our reporter that the victims were caught unaware as they were attacked while they were sleeping in their houses.

He disclosed that the hoodlums abandoned the RUSPAC members’ bodies, while their decapitated heads were displayed at the “Station” area in community.

“Some members of Dey-Gbam cult group who escaped from the community invaded the community at midnight and killed one RUSPAC member and another boy working with RUSPAC. They also killed a brother to the RUSPAC member, and one other Emohua guy, a member of EMOVIS. The members of the RUSPAC security were beheaded,” he said.

The killings are coming less than one week after the Paramount Ruler of Rundele Clan, His Royal Highness, Barr. Damian Ejiowhuo, Eze Rundele N’ogbo II was recognized and given staff of office by the outgone Rivers Governor, Nyesom Wike.

When contacted, the Paramount Ruler of the community, HRH, Eze Damian Ejiowhuo, confirmed the incident but declined further comment on the incident.

The River State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said she would issue a statement on the incident.
