Gombe State governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has pledged to settle the backlog of gratuity inherited by his administration before the end of his tenure in 2017.
He made the promise yesterday after taking his oath of office for a second term in office alongside his deputy, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau.

Yahaya said his administration had paid the backlog of gratuity the state owed pensioners from 2012 to 2019, promising that he would pay the remaining workers before the end of his tenure.
He assured that the next years of his administration would build on the gains recorded during the last four years by focusing on critical areas that include “economic empowerment and job creation, education and human capital development, healthcare and social welfare, as well as infrastructural development among others.”
The governor promised to be just and fair to all people of the state irrespective of political, ethnic, religious and sectional affiliations.
