The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed the death of a cart pusher who was crushed by an articulated truck in Dopemu area of Lagos.
LASTMA’s Badmus Abdul-Akeem from Zone 32, Dopemu, who led the rescue team, said the truck was loaded with gravel.
He said investigation revealed that the driver of the truck lost concentration while competing with the driver of another vehicle and in the process crashed the truck on the cart pusher.
He explained that, “After noticing a trapped body under the truck, we called the LASEMA Response Unit (LRU) and the police from Gowon Division for rescue operations and investigation.

“While the LASEMA unit evacuated the truck, the recovered corpse was handed over to members of the Hausa community in the area after they mobilised to the scene of the accident.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, while consoling with the family of the deceased, urged truck drivers and other motorists to always adhere strictly to safety standards while on highways.
