Group celebrates Children’s Day with Abuja IDPs

A political group, Senator Oluremi Tinubu Movement, at the weekend took the 2023 Children’s Day celebration to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camp in Kuchigoro, Abuja, and distributed writing materials and other gifts to over 2,000 children.

Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the Director General of the movement, Ghazali Abdulazeez, said the event was aimed at encouraging children at the IDP camp to get educated.

He said, “Our focus is not just for in-school kids; our focus is also on out-of-school children, and we are committed to push for community service. They deserve to be educated. We are not here to give them food. When you eat food. The best that can be given to the children is education; that is why we are here.

SPONSOR AD

“We are a self-sponsored organisation. We intended to support 500 IDPs, but when the information got to the incoming first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, she supported the movement.

“Therefore, we are celebrating with over 2,000 children here. She supported us with items for over 1,500 children.”
