He said the abductors of the emir’s grandchildren became uncomfortable when they discovered that Yusuf, who is the senior among the abducted emir’s grandchildren, was able to identify some of the bandits.

“They were not comfortable when they discovered that Yusuf identified some of them and the bandits’ leader ordered that Yusuf should be taken on motorcycle far away from their den to execute him,” he said.

He said Yusuf managed to escape when his abductors, who carried him on motorcycle, stopped at a thick forest to smoke before executing him when he escaped.

“He pretended as if he wants to ease himself while his abductors were smoking and he escaped from there,” he said.

When asked if a contact has been established with the abductors, the emir’s aide said the bandits’ leader had demanded for a huge ransom before the victims will be set free.

“Yes, a contact was established and communication is ongoing as they are demanding for ransom before the victims will be released but for security reasons, I can’t disclosed it to you please,” he said.

The secretary to the emir’s palace, Yahaya Ibrahim, also confirmed the escape of one of the emir’s grandchild and ransom demand by the bandits.

He said, “Yusuf, who escaped from his abductors yesterday, is at home as I speak with you, but for the ransom, I can’t disclose the amount for security reasons,” he said.

The spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, DSP Muhammed Jalige, did not pick calls or reply to text message sent to him on the incident, as at the time of filing the report.
