The Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Haruna Garba, has ordered immediate investigation into the recent act of hooliganism involving officials and players of the Police FCT football club during their Nation-Wide League One (NLO) match against Royal Stars FC Gwagwalada on Monday, May 15, at the Bwari Township Stadium.
It has been reported that after they were beaten 1-0 by their opponents, some irate fans believed to be Policemen and other supporters went berserk as they physically assaulted the match officials and vandalised some sections of the recently refurbished stadium.
In a summary jurisdiction, the league organisers fined Police FCT FC the sum of N200,000 which must be paid before their next match and slammed indefinite suspension on the Team Manager, two coaches and five players of the amateur club.
Furthermore, the club has been ordered to repair the damaged facilities at the stadium.
