Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) has frowned over the use of mace during legislative processes in the National and states assemblies.
The group disclosed this in a communiqué signed by its National Coordinator, Alhaji Aminu Yusuf Nuhu after the 24th Annual National Seminar organised by the faith-based organisation in Jos, Plateau state.
It said there was a strong need to revisit the use of mace given its "non-entrenchment in the constitution".
It also cited that mace has serious religious implications, saying a platform should be established to address the issue.
The communiqué reads: "We do not support the use of mace to judge on issues of importance in Nigeria.
The group urged executive and legislative arms of government to create a platform for cordial and sustainable working relationship for the betterment of Nigerian masses.
