The chairman of the disbanded Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organisation in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, said the President-elect was never stoned in Port Harcourt.
Senator Magnus Abe had in a television interview claimed that those that gathered at Government House Port Harcourt to receive Tinubu during his two-day visit were the same people that stoned him in Port Harcourt in 2015.
But Okocha, a former chief of staff to former governor, Rotimi Amaechi told journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday that Tinubu did not visit the state in 2015 and was not stoned by anybody.
He said that the claim by Abe about stoning Tinubu in Port Harcourt was put up to score cheap political points.

“I can tell you that never a time was Tinubu stoned in Port Harcourt. At what time was he stoned? When did he visit Port Harcourt in 2015 when he was stoned? He was never stoned by anybody. Governor Nyesom Wike was one of those that played a role in making sure Tinubu won the presidential election,” he said.

Okocha also said the state chapter of APC has remained aground because of the leadership style of its leaders.
Okocha spoke in Port Harcourt during the presentation of his book, titled ‘Through the Slippery Slopes of Rivers State Politics, a Personal Memoir’.
Okocha, who spoke with our reporter on the sideline of the event said: “My experience will be incomplete without the mention of Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi.
“Hitherto, he was a leader. I was saying that the leadership failures, the ineptitude, the totalitarian tendencies, and the dictatorship typical of the man led to the running of the party aground, but without the intention of maligning his person.”
Reacting on behalf of Amaechi, APC State Publicity Secretary, Darlington Nwauju described Okocha as someone who has a “history of transactional politics.”
