The All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders’ Forum has revealed plans to honour Media Trust, the publishers of Daily Trust and other titles including Trust TV and Trust Radio as well as some governors in the North and their counterparts in the South during its forthcoming National Prayer and Honorary Awards slated for May 13, 2023.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Daily Trust headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja, the Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman of the forum, Col. Abdulmumini Aminu (rtd) said the event would also feature a prayer session.
He explained that the honorary award would be presented to distinguished Nigerians who worked hard for the power shift to the South.
“The stakeholders in this aspect are the some Northern governors who stood their ground against all odds for power shift to the South. Other people who contributed to the success of the party would be appreciated and honoured,” he said.

He said the Northern governors to be honoured are Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Kano), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Bello Masari (Katsina), and Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger).
He said from the South, Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Hope Uzodinma (Imo) and Dave Umahi are some of the governors to be honoured.
In the area of election reporting, the retired Colonel said Daily Trust would be honoured for providing neutral and unbiased reportage throughout the 2023 electioneering period.
“We have seen your passion for a one-united Nigeria by ensuring neutrality before, during, and after the 2023 general elections, and this resonates with our focus on ensuring unity and development of Nigeria irrespective of our religious or cultural affiliations.
“Our forum, even though political, intends to hold this prayer session for the country and for our leaders to succeed, for the unity of this country, because we need peace for the country to develop. Indeed, Daily Trust has done so well in ensuring that our country remains one and united,” he added.
The national chairman of the forum, Abdullahi Aliyu Katsina, while commending Daily Trust for its passion for a one-united Nigeria and neutrality before, during and after the 2023 elections said the honorary awards are to commend the efforts of those distinguished personalities in and outside the party.
In a closing remark, the General Editor of Daily Trust, Hamza Idris, while appreciating the forum for finding them worthy of the award, said maintaining trust through neutrality has been a major focus of the company since its inception.
