Police retirees issue ultimatum to IGP over pension scheme

Retired officers of the Nigeria Police Force have given a two-week ultimatum to the police authorities to remove them from the Contributory Pension Scheme or face protests with their family members at the force headquarters.

Over 500 of their retired colleagues have died since 2007, most of which were attributed to poverty caused by the pension scheme.

Retired CSP Mannir Lawal Zaria stated this shortly after their members performed special prayers seeking God’s intervention over their plights, adding that the ultimatum ends by May 15.
