The Kano State Police Command has arrested 83 suspected criminals for drug dealing, thuggery and theft and recovered weapons during the just concluded Eid-el-Fitr celebration in the state.
Spokesman of the command in Kano, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who disclosed this to newsmen on Wednesday, said the arrest was in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on the provision of adequate security during the concluded Eid-el-Fitr Sallah festivities.
He said “83 suspected thugs (‘Yan Daba) were arrested between the 21st – 25th of April 2023 during the “Hawan Eid”, “Hawan Daushe”, “Hawan Nassarawa”, “Hawan Fanisau” and after the Sallah celebrations in all the five emirate councils of the State.
“Suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons, robbed properties, illicit drugs and stolen properties. The suspects are under investigation,” he said.

He said the command reiterated its commitment to ensuring the security and safety of the state, warning that criminals have no hiding place in state, and urged residents to continue to pray for the state, and the nation, report incidents to the nearest police station, and not take the law into their hands.
