Parents task to show interest in children’s education

An Ibadan-based educationist and Islamic scholar, Ustadh Ismail Ishaaq Animasahun, has urged Muslim parents to enrol their children in faith-based schools to get the needed guidance in Islam.

He made the call during a Ramadan Lecture on “Revamping the Socio-Economic Lives: Wither the Islamic Values” in Abuja jointly organised by the Organization of Tadhamunul Muslimeen (OTM) and The Muslim Congress (TMC).

Animasahun, who is also the Proprietor/Director, Ismal Islamic Group of Schools, Ibadan, Oyo State, stressed the need for parents to create time for their children to teach them about Islam.

He said: “Some international schools disorient our children who query our way. Let’s give Islam priority in the choice of schools for our children.

“The children will be nurtured in pure Islam from childhood. That is the reason why parents have to consider this.”

The cleric, while speaking further on how to revive the socio-economic system from its decaying state, said homes must be controlled by Islam to reform the society.

The cleric advised children against bad company, which led to bad behaviours.

He encouraged alms giving at this difficult period when the poor were suffering and discouraged people against stinginess.

Government, he said, must work on collection and distribution of Zakat to the needy in the society, adding that “It is more impactful when it is handled by the government.”
