The Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes, Abubakar Bala, has expressed happiness with the 2-2 draw recorded by his side at Enugu Rangers in their week 14 fixture played last Sunday.
Speaking shortly after the match, the national U-23 assistant coach said it was sweet revenge for Tornadoes who were forced to a 0-0 by Rangers in the reversed fixture played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
“It was a very tough one playing against one of the biggest teams in the country. But overall, I’m very happy with the performance of my boys. They gave a good account of themselves to pick this vital away point.
“Remember Rangers came to Kaduna and forced us to a goalless draw, so it’s also good that we fought hard to get a point in this one,” he said.
The coach also said the point will prove very crucial in the fight for one of the Super 6 playoff tickets. “Of course, a point is a plus, especially coming on the road. It is a plus because our ambition for the season is to qualify for the Super 6. We will not relax and will not relent. We will keep pushing until we achieve our aim,” he reiterated.
Not ready to rest on their oars, Bala said Niger Tornadoes have since shifted focus to their next fixture as he maintained that they have returned to the drawing board to work on some of their weaknesses, especially in attack.
