The Vigilante Group of Nigeria is seeking the support of residents of communities across the country in an effort to tackle insecurity in their respective areas.
The VGN Commander General, Dr Usman Jahun, said the support and involvement of residents of communities would put security operatives in an advantaged position in combating criminal activities.
He made the statement in Osogbo, Osun State capital, during the screening exercise of VGN officers across the South West states.
He said the organisation was aware that some people were hiring gunmen from outside the country for criminal business.
He however said the missing link in the security planning in the country would be addressed, as soon as President Muhammadu Buhari signs the VGN bill into law to empower operatives to provide security at the community level and in the forests.
