An FCT High Court has ordered 26 commercial banks in the country to unfreeze the accounts of the Abia State Government domiciled with them.
Justice Bello Kawu on Thursday granted the application to lift the earlier freezing order granted on March 29, against the bank accounts and fixed April 27, for hearing of the main suit.
Justice Kawu held that the state government required funds for the smooth running of the government and payment of salaries.
The court had granted an ex parte order brought by one Uche Eni through his counsel, Johnmary Jideobi, demanding a Mareva Order to freeze the state’s bank accounts to safeguard the funds for the newly elected administration.
