‘Nigeria’s maternal healthcare delivery multidirectional’

Country Director, Pathfinder International in Nigeria, Amina Aminu Dorayi, yesterday decried that the women’s health in Nigeria had been for over the years neglected.

She stressed the need for investment to target communities on midwifery service schemes.

She spoke in Abuja at a media briefing by the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) on advancing the health and rights of women in Nigeria tagged ‘Voices for Women’s Health.’

In her welcome address, President, NAWOJ, Ladi Bala, said: “Today in Nigeria, we shouldn’t be talking about women dying during childbirth. We shouldn’t be having health facilities without the right commodities, medication, and qualified doctors and nurses. Many of Nigerian doctors are going abroad and are working at rural communities in abroad because their rural communities are more or less like our capital city.’’
