The Katsina State Government is sponsoring no fewer than 35 indigenes of the state in cybersecurity and software engineering at the Al-Hikmah University in Kwara State.
The programme is a partnership between Governor Bello Masari-led’s administration and the management of Al-Hikmah.
It was learnt that cybersecurity and software engineering courses cost N741,000 for interested students in the university.
The Vice Chancellor of the faith-based institution, Prof Noah Yusuf, disclosed this during a press briefing on the 11 new programmes granted full accreditation by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

He noted that, “This should be a model for other governors in the North and across Nigeria. The Katsina government chose specialised programmes for its students and indigenes and invested in them for the future.
“On our part, we salute this initiative because of the impact in Nigeria’s future and education, and we have decided to use the success of Katsina to reach Kano, Kaduna, among other states.
“The Katsina government has so far sponsored 35 students on cybersecurity and software engineering and has paid their fees from 100 to 400 levels, including feeding.”
