Dangers of listening to loud music via your earphones

It’s the in-thing now to show how cool you are by using earphones. Being part of the gadget generation, we enjoy listening to our favourite music from our phones, mp3 players, laptops, phones, iPad you name it. Whether on the move or at work or at the gym, earphones plugged in have become a part of our everyday lives but unfortunately, not all of us are aware of the harm.

If you are not using noise cancelling earphones the possibility of you damaging your ears is quite high. Noise cancellation earphones cancel the excessive noise giving you a safer hearing experience.

Listening to loud music through headphones can also cause vertigo. You may experience dizziness from the pressure caused by loud music in the ear.

Taking a break from earphones is very important. Overtime, it may cause hearing loss so do try to take a 5 minute break at least every hour by removing them completely from your ears.

Dr. Ikechukwu adds that earphones that go deep into your ears are bad for your eardrums because of the impact they have directly on your ear canal.

Listening to loud music can also flatten the hairs in your ears and the damage made to them is permanent. Once that damage is done it may take years before you begin experiencing the effect which may include muffled hearing and ringing.
