Afrikings Homes adopt MKO Abiola National Stadium training pitch

The Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, has hailed Afrikings Houses for adopting the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja’s Practice Pitch 1.

With the adoption, Afrikings Houses has joined the growing list of organizations that have keyed into the ministry’s Adopt-A-Pitch Project, which began three years ago.

The corporation is expected to raise the pitch’s standard through re-grassing, the construction of spectator stands, and the maintenance of the pitch for the next two years.

“When about three years ago we started the Adopt-A-Pitch Initiative, it was to rescue our sporting infrastructure and also to improve the welfare of our athletes.

“The first component which we worked on has to do with Adopt-An-Athlete-Initiative by creating a funding pathway for our athletes to prepare for the Olympics and the Commonwealth. We have seen the successes of that initiative, and we have seen the impact of it. And that is why beginning from next month, we will start that same process towards France in 2024,” he said.

In his own submission, the Chairman, Afrikings Homes Ltd, Kingsley Awodi, said the full re-grassing will take 8 weeks before it would be handed over to the ministry after which the company will be responsible for its maintenance for two years.
