Job scam: fake DSS official arraigned in Ondo

 

A self-acclaimed official of the Department of State Services (DSS), Ebenezer Adefehinti, has been arraigned be-fore a magistrates’ court in Akure, Ondo State, over alleged scam.

The prosecutor, Augustine Omhenemhen, told the court that the defendant allegedly obtained N570,000 from a cleric, Issac Adebayo, with the pretense to secure employment for his son in the DSS.

He said the defendant also allegedly swindled a woman, Bola Ajidara, in the sum of N650,000 with assurance to get her son a job in the DSS.

The prosecutor further said the defendant also obtained N1,750,000 from one Bosede Adeyanju with a promise to help her secure employment for two people in the secret police.

He noted that offences contravened Sections 418, 419, 383, 390, 484 and 108 (2) of the Criminal Code, Cap, 37 Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

After the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges, his counsel, A. I. Akinde, prayed the court to grant him bail.

The Magistrate, O. R. Yakubu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2,000,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case to March 23.
