‘I joined robbery gang to raise money for my kids’ school fees’

A 28-year-old armed robbery suspect, Osas Aganmwonyi, has said that he joined a robbery gang to be able to pay his children’s school fees and feed them.

Aganmwonyi was among four suspects paraded by the Edo State Police Command over alleged armed robbery using military uniform in their operation.

Speaking with City & Crime, Aganmwonyi said he joined the gang due to hardship after losing his job.

“I have three children. I lost my wife and I lost my job. I have no money to sponsor them. I have to pay their school fees and feed them.

“I don’t have anybody to assist me. So, I indulged in robbery to be able to train my children in school and also put food on their table.”

He further said, “I was not in this situation before. I was a car owner, had a plot of land and other things. I don’t know what happened and I lost everything. I just had to look for money to start a better life for my children.

“But I have found out that what I did was not the best in my situation. I blame myself for everything and I’m not happy that my face is going viral in a negative situation. It is a disgrace to my family.”
