A former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ondo State, Banji Okunomo, yesterday resigned his membership of the party.
Okunomo, who is a former chairman Ilaje LGA, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the chairman of the PDP of Ugbo Ward I in Ilaje LGA, saying he left the PDP following the leadership crisis rocking the party in the state.
He dumped the party alongside a former chairman of Okitipupa LGA, Solomon Bitire, and the coordinator of the 2023 PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Ilaje LGA, Jossy Ehinmore.

Reacting, Ondo State’s chapter of the PDP described them as “serial defectors leaving the party with equanimity.”
The party, in a statement by its spokesperson, Kennedy Peretei, said that the “same characters” had moved in and out of the opposition party twice in the last 18 months.
