The police in Lagos State have arrested a security guard, Job Barnabas, who is alleged to have hacked to death a 25-year-old house help, Theresa Hope Okpa, on February 6, 2023, in Lekki.
The police said the deceased, who hailed from Cross River State, worked as a house help in the home of a businessman in Lekki.
Lagos police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest, said the suspect was in police custody at the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba.
He further said, “He has made useful statements. The deceased was identified as Okpa Theresa Hope, while the suspect is Barnabas Job. The case will soon be charged to court.”

Meanwhile, sources said the suspect, who worked as a guard, came to Lagos two years ago along with others from the North and first settled in the Hausa community in Ajah, from where he was employed as a security guard in one of the houses in the area.
