How South African singer slumped, died on stage

Once again, the South African music industry has been put in a gloomy state over the death of a popular singer, Costa Tsobanoglou, who reportedly collapsed while performing at the Ultra Music Festival in Johannesburg on Saturday, 11 March 2023.

Fondly known as Costa Titch, the death of the singer who is also famously known as a dancer comes weeks after the death of the South African superstar rap artiste, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes popularly known as AKA, who was gunned down in Durban, South Africa.

In videos making the rounds on the internet, the singer fell down during his performance but continued singing after he was picked up by his bodyguard, however, slumped a second time and had to be carried off stage.

Reacting to the death of the entertainer, the deceased family members have urged the public to give them time and space to mourn privately via a statement.

They said, “Death has tragically knocked at our door. Robbing us of our beloved son, brother and grandson, Constantinos Tsobanoglou (28), who South Africa had come to love and idolize under his stage name “Costa Titch”. It is with deep pain that we find ourselves having to acknowledge his passing at this time. We are thankful for the emergency responders and all those who were present in his last hours on this earth. As a family, we are faced with a difficult time as we try to make sense of what has befallen us and ask that we be afforded the time and space to gather ourselves.”
