The Oyo State government spends the entire money received from the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) on workers’ salary, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Ismael O. Alli, has said.
According to him, the government took the decision even though workers form just one per cent of the entire population of Oyo State.
Alli made this known during an interview with journalists in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, yesterday.
He said there is hardly any state in the federation that commits its entire FAAC to salaries of its workers.
The SSG, who was in Ilorin for a ceremony, said the government of Senator Abiola Ajimobi is committed to regular payment of workers’ salaries.
On the Paris Club debt refund, he said the government used 60 per cent from the previous refund to pay salaries, allowances and pension, while the balance was used on developmental projects.
“The expected Paris refunds would also be spent judiciously with the involvement of all stakeholders,” he said.
