NLC asks Bauchi gov’t to pay outstanding benefits of retirees

 

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Bauchi State chapter, has called on the state government to pay the outstanding balance of retirement benefits of retired workers to ease their suffering.

Chairman of the NLC in the state, Comrade Danjuma Saleh, made the call at the opening ceremony of the 23 delegate conference held at the Command Guest House on Tuesday in Bauchi.

Represented by Dauda Shuaibu, chairman of the Joint Negotiations Council (JNC) he said, “The backlog of retirement benefits inherited from previous administrations runs into billions of naira, with many yet to get their benefits years after retirement.”

The chairman commended the state governor for paying part of the retirement benefits, and appealed for the balance to be paid timely to ease the sufferings of the affected retirees.
