Ahead of the March 11, gubernatorial Houses of Assembly elections, the League of Imams and Alfas in Ogun State has advised that do-or-die politics does not guarantee victory as only God gives victory.
The Secretary General of the league, Sheikh Tajudeen Adewunmi, in a press statement issued on Thursday, urged the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and other elected leaders to prioritise the development of the country and its citizens.
The Islamic leaders called on politicians in the state to sustain the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed in the state and eschew violence in their campaigns during and after the elections.

The statement reads in part: “We urge the president-elect and other elected leaders to be magnanimous in victory and accommodate co-contestants in nation-building.
“The newly elected leaders should always consider the effects of their policies on the masses of the country, and to quickly, as fast as possible, seek means to ameliorate the suffering of the already impoverished masses.”
They implored Muslims and religious leaders not to relent on prayers for continuous peace, tranquility and progress in Ogun State and the country at large.
