An elder statesman, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has said the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in last Saturday’s election as president-elect shows that the country’s democracy is consolidating, and urged him to run an all-inclusive government.
Yakasai, a former Liaison Officer to President Shehu Shagari and founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), explained that an all-inclusive government would give all Nigerians a sense of belonging and faith in the country.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in the early hours of Wednesday declared Tinubu as winner of last Saturday’s presidential election.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, Yakasai however, said Nigerians should not expect magic from the incoming president in his 100 days in office, but give him ample time to fix the current challenges bedevilling the country.
He also asked candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, and 15 others who contested against Tinubu to accept defeat and congratulate the president-elect in the interest of the nation.
“My call is to the winner, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; I am sending my congratulations to you for this well-deserved victory and I urge you to run an all-inclusive government that will give every Nigerian from all parts of the country a sense of belonging,” he said.
