An uncle to the Niger State governor, Mustapha Sani Bello, popularly known as Sani Basket, has been suspended indefinitely from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for alleged anti-party activities.
The party in a letter dated February 23, 2023, and jointly signed by the chairman and secretary of the Central Ward of the party in Kontagora Local Government Area, Alhaji Hamza Majidadi and Alhaji Abdullahi Kira said the action was taken after the stakeholders’ resolution.
They said Sani Basket’s utterances against the party on Landmark FM in Kontagora on February 21, 2023, were a direct campaign against the APC and was contrary to the provisions of the constitution.
Part of the letter read: “We strongly write to convey the resolution of our great party, APC Central Ward, Kontagora, for the suspension of Honourable Sani Bello Mustapha (Basket) indefinitely.

“Our collective resolution to suspend the aforesaid member from the party is due to his anti-party activities, i.e campaigning against his party which is capable of tarnishing the good image of the party.”
The governor’s uncle did not, however, respond to messages by our correspondent requesting him to respond to the suspension.
But in a viral video sighted by Daily Trust Saturday, he said following his suspension, which he described as a waste of time, he had quit the APC.
