The Benue State government has declared Friday a work-free day to enable state workers to go to their various communities to vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday.
The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Michael Inalegwu, said the State Executive Council took the decision during its meeting on Thursday.
He said sectors such as the judiciary, security, banks, hospitals and fire service were however exempted from the work-free day and would therefore continue to provide services to the public.

Inalegwu added that the council further urged Benue people to conduct themselves peacefully during the elections as they had done in previous ones.
