El-Rufai inaugurates NIS enhanced passport office in Zaria

Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai of Kaduna State has inaugurated a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) enhanced passport office in Zaria.

The office, which is the first of its kind in the country located outside a state capital, is expected to serve people not only from Zaria and its environs but also from neighbouring Katsina State.

Inaugurating the office at Kofar Jatau Zaria, the governor said the siting of the office was necessitated based on the fact that Zaria is among the 10 most populous cities in the country.

While suing for peace as elections drew nearer, El-Rufai said adequate security arrangements had been made to guarantee the safety of the electorate and election officers across the state.

He urged residents to “vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is the most credible of all the presidential contestants.”

“I feel I can say it here since Zaria is a safe place to say it, as they are largely supporters of the APC.”

The governor applauded the Minister of Interior, Abdulrauf Aregbosola, and the Comptroller General of NIS, Idris Jere, for accepting to inaugurate the office in Zaria.

Earlier, the Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, said the inauguration of the front office would be a legacy to reckon with.

He said the people would be relieved from the rigours of travelling to Kaduna for their passports.
