I will work hard for Nigerians, says Tinubu at final rally

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, yesterday promised to work hard for Nigeria if elected in Saturday’s elections.

Speaking at the party’s grand finale presidential rally in Lagos, Tinubu praised President Muhammadu Buhari for the confidence he reposed in him and for believing in his capacity to succeed him.

He said, “As you worked hard for me, I will work hard for Nigerians. As you give Nigerians the hope to renew their faith in their country, I will sustain that hope.”

The former Lagos State governor also said the president gave him the free hand to choose his running mate in person of Kashim Shettima whom he described as “a reliable, dependable and courageous man” who made several marks as Governor of Borno State between 2011 and 2019.

He noted that if elected, he would pursue all the programmes in his “Renewed Hope Agenda” vigorously and diligently “to bring hope and cheer to those who are hopeless today.”

The National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, assured Nigerians that the legacies built in the last eight years by President Buhari would not only be maintained but improved upon, noting that to actualise this, Nigerians must resolve to vote for APC at all levels.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, thanked the APC supporters and Lagosians who trooped out early in the morning to welcome Tinubu and other leaders of the party, saying the APC which they believed in would never disappoint them.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State chapter of the APC has denied reports that Tinubu threw wads of new naira notes to the crowd cheering him during his procession from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport to the Teslim Balogun Stadium, venue of the rally.

Publicity Secretary of the party, Seye Oladejo, in a statement, said the report was “nothing but a lie from the pit of hell.”
