Some civil society organisations have continued their protests against the alleged politicisation of operations of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), disobedience of court orders and infringement on human rights.
The coalition began the call for the removal of the EFCC Chairman, Mr AbdulRasheed Bawa, on Sunday, before starting protests on Sunday at Ikeja.
It would also be recalled that the Kogi High Court in Lokoja on February 5, ordered the arrest and imprisonment of the EFCC chairman in prison for disobeying a court order.
However, the EFCC has filed a motion at the Court of Appeal to stop the execution of the judgement.

The CSOs are however planning to petition the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) to demand that until the court order to arrest Bawa is effected, “no court should entertain any EFCC case henceforth.”
The ‘Bawa Must Go’ protest was led on Monday by the Chairman, Centre for Anti-corruption and Open Leadership, Debo Adeniran; Executive Director, Zero Graft Centre, Kolawole Sanchez-Jude; Chairman, Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance, Toyin Raheem; and Executive Director, Centre for Public Accountability, Olufemi Lawson; among others.
Adeniran alleged that the EFCC under Bawa had not done well as expected in the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
He also alleged that the EFCC had turned itself into a sensational media agency.
Other leaders of the CSOs, who took turns to speak with the media, alleged that the commission appeared to be focusing mainly on settling political scores than confronting its big mandate.
The EFCC spokesman, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, had yet to respond to Daily Trust’s request for a response as of press time.
