The National President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA), Ide John Udeagbala, has said Nigerian youths have all the qualities to dominate the tech sector if the government implements policies to enable the sector to thrive.
Speaking during the maiden Digital Economy Conference in Abuja, Udeagbala said many Nigerian youths are known for ‘yahoo-yahoo’ businesses where they defraud individuals and corporate organizations both within and outside Nigeria.
He however said the narrative can be changed if the ‘smart and intelligent youths’ can be adopted into the digital ecosystem through government sponsored training.
“The question begging for answers is what stops Nigerian youths who distinguish themselves academically in every ivory institution of the world where they compete more brilliantly and excellently than their counterparts from other parts of the world from achieving such a feat.
“We are however concerned that the organised sector is left out in the composition of the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship,” he noted.
The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Prof. Isah Pantami said the present administration is the founder of the digital economy in Nigeria with the development of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy.”
