One person has been reportedly killed while 16 women, including four nursing mothers, were kidnapped in Hayin-Magaji community in Kontagora LGA of Niger State.
City & Crime gathered that the bandits, in their numbers, raided the community, a few kilometres away from Kontagora town and conducted house to house search between 2am and 3am on Monday.
A resident of the community, who didn’t want his name mentioned, said four people sustained various degrees of bullet injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
He said many people had fled their homes due to the attack and called on the government to come to their aid against insecurity.

“There are four babies who were taken alongside their mothers. The babies are still breastfeeding and their mothers could not drop them. Our village is not far from Farin-Shinge, a few kilometres away from Kontagora. Many people are in the hospital now and only God knows if they would survive,” he said.
The Niger State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, did not respond to calls put across to him while Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, could not be reached as at the time of filing this report.
