TETFund boosts teaching, learning, research at Kaduna varsity

In an effort to boost teaching, learning and research, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has provided a College of Medicine complexe to the Kaduna State University (KASU).

The three-story building Daily Trust gathered which cost N432 million comprises 38 lecture room, two board rooms, an e- library and conference halls.

Speaking while handing over the complex to the management of KASU, Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Professor Sonny Ochono, said the building was part of the 162 projects being inaugurated in 54 tertiary institutions across the country.

Represented by the Fund’s Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, Babajide Olajide, the ES said the complex was constructed at the cost of N432 million under the 2014 to 2016 annual interventions projects adding, “The intervention is a clear demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to the provision of physical infrastructure in the nation’s tertiary institutions.”

“It is our commitment at TETFund to ensure that value is obtained for funds allocated to benefiting institutions to aid teaching, learning and research, this, by implication, will make our institutions globally competitive.

“We believe that the facility will significantly impact the training of students by providing a conducive working environment for staff and the students,” he said.

He assured KASU of TETFund’s continue support and urged them to judiciously utilise the allocated funds for the project approved for the institution.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdullahi Musa said the institution is heading toward rapid transformation with a new management in place by working on strategies to consolidate the gains of it’s predecessors to take the school to greater heights.

He described TETFund as a critical stakeholder and expressed optimism towards actualising the vision of repositioning the institution for global competitiveness. “We will continue to partner with TETFund, and stakeholders in our pursuit of excellence and talent that will take the university to greater heights,” he said.

In his remarks, the Provost of the College of Medicine, Professor Abdullahi Abba said that the college has absorbed medical students from other institutions due to the availability of critical infrastructure and facilities.

He then urged TETFund to continue to support the institution to deliver quality medical training and research.
