Daily Trust observed that two carriers belonging to Bristow Airlines were waiting to take off with some passengers on ground when Governor Abubakar Sani Bello paid an unscheduled visit to the airport.

Daily Trust gathered that four airline operators are pressing for Minna Airport in view of its runway, adjudged as one of the best in the country.

The state government had put pressure on the federal government to consider the airport as alternative following the proposed closure of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

Unrelenting that Kaduna was chosen instead, the state government commenced facility upgrade of the Minna airport, thereby triggering interest of some major airlines.

Governor Sani Bello said during the visit to the airport that the state government’s intervention had become necessary to bring back life to the airport, alleviate the suffering of air passengers and open the state to investors.
