FCTA bans PoS outlets in Abuja streets

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) yesterday banned activities of Point of Sales (PoS) operators by roadside and unapproved places in the streets of Abuja.

Coordinator, Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Umar Shuaibu, said the ban was to address insecurity associated with PoS operators’ activities.

He noted that while the administration was not completely against the PoS business in Abuja, operating it indiscriminately was creating nuisance  and violating environmental rules.

According to him, the enforcement team will not be concerned with operators who limit their activities within commercial places, but will remove those who constitute nuisance and a security threat.

He said: “There are complaints by residents that strange people were indiscriminately operating PoS within their gates and streets.”
