The Senate yesterday confirmed the appointment of a former Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, as the chairman of the Police Service Commission.
This followed the consideration of a report by the Committee on Police Affairs which screened Arase.

The chairman of the committee, Senator Dauda Halliru Jika, said Arase performed well during the screening exercise and proved that he has capacity to lead the Police Service Commission as chairman.
He also said there was no petition against his appointment and therefore recommended his confirmation.
